Guangzhou, April 19 /Xinhua/ — On Sunday in the city of Guangzhou (Guangdong Province, southern China), the first phase of the 139th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Guangzhou / Canton Fair, concluded, which attracted a record number of foreign buyers. This was reported by the China Foreign Trade Center, the organizer of the event.
According to official data, by 17:00 on Sunday, about 167 thousand buyers from 216 countries and regions participated in the offline fair, which is 5.9 percent more compared to the same stage of the previous fair.
As the organizers indicated, such attendance, becoming the highest in the entire history of the first stage, testifies to the stability and viability of China’s foreign trade. The first stage of the fair on the theme “Advanced Processing Industry” counted more than 25 thousand booths and over 12 thousand exhibitors.
This year, the fair will take place in three offline stages and will continue until May 5. The second stage, scheduled for April 23-27, will be dedicated to the theme “Quality Home Life” and will showcase products in such segments as building materials, furniture, household items, gifts, and decorative items.
The Guangzhou Fair, established in 1957, is held twice a year in the city of Guangzhou. It is the longest-running comprehensive international trade event in China and serves as an important indicator of the situation in Chinese foreign trade. –0–
