Tashkent, April 19 /Sina ua/ — Uzbekistan and Rwanda have officially established diplomatic relations. The corresponding joint communique was signed by the heads of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries on Saturday at the 5th Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bahrom Samadov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe, also signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a mechanism for political consultations. This document lays the legal groundwork for regular dialogue on pressing issues of the regional and international agenda.
B. Saidov noted that establishing diplomatic relations with Rwanda is an important step in implementing Uzbekistan’s strategy to expand cooperation with the African continent. Rwanda became the 167th country with which Tashkent established an official diplomatic dialogue. –0–
