Tehran, April 19 /Xin Hua/ — Iran refused to participate in the second round of talks with the USA. This was reported on Sunday by the Iranian official news agency IRNA.
According to the agency’s publication on its English-language page on the social network X, Iran’s absence from the second round of talks “is due to excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant changes in position, frequent contradictions from Washington, and the ongoing naval blockade, which Iran considers a violation of the ceasefire regime.”
In another statement in Farsi, IRNA indicated that the information about the holding of the second round of peace talks between Tehran and Washington in Islamabad “does not correspond to reality.”
The agency called the messages spread by the United States an element of a “media game and a game of accusations” with the aim of putting pressure on Iran and emphasized that “excessive, illogical, and unrealistic demands, frequent changes in positions, constant contradictory statements by the USA, and their continuation of the so-called naval blockade” currently hinder the progress of negotiations.
The IRNA added that under current circumstances “there are no bright prospects” for fruitful negotiations. –0–
