New York, April 19 /Xin Hua/ — Eight children aged from 1 to 14 years old died on Sunday as a result of a mass shooting in the city of Shreveport in the northwest of the American state of Louisiana. This was reported by the local police.
As reported at a briefing for journalists by police official Christopher Bordelon, the shooting occurred at about 06:00 local time / 11:00 GMT. Officers from the Shreveport police department responded to a call due to a “domestic dispute.” K. Bordelon described the crime scene as “extensive,” as it included two neighboring houses and one more nearby.
According to the police representative, the deceased children numbered 10 people who received gunshot wounds during the incident in Rhode Island. The suspect, presumably, committed a car hijacking nearby, after which the law enforcement officers began pursuing him. During the chase in Rhode Island, he was shot.
The police believe that the suspect was the only one who fired shots at the three locations, and that some of the children in the house were “his descendants.” The motive for the shooting is not clear at this time.
The investigation continues. –0–
