Washington, April 16 /Xin Hua/ — The Southern Command of the United States Armed Forces announced on Wednesday that as a result of a strike on a vessel which, according to the intelligence of the command, was transporting drugs in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean, three people died.

On the social network X, the command reported that the combined operational group “Southern Spear”, operating under the leadership of the head of the US Armed Forces Southern Command General Francis Donovan, struck a lethal blow on a vessel which, as it claimed, was used by a terrorist organization.

“Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was following a known drug trafficking route in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean and was involved in an operation for the illegal drug trade. As a result of the strike, three drug-terrorist men were killed. None of the US military personnel were harmed,” the report states.

The USA is conducting operations against vessels for the third consecutive day, presumably involved in illegal drug trafficking in the region. The military stated that as a result of a separate strike on Tuesday, four people were killed, and two more — in another operation on Monday.

Since the beginning of September, American military forces have conducted about 50 airstrikes on vessels suspected of drug smuggling, resulting in the deaths of at least 174 people.
