London, April 16 /Xinhua/ — Some ships bypassed the US maritime blockade imposed on vessels heading to Iranian ports and departing from them. This is stated in a report published on Wednesday by the London-based maritime transportation analytics company Windward.

According to the report, on Tuesday, an amphibious ship under the Iranian flag left the port of Bandar Abbas, crossed the Strait of Hormuz, and entered the Gulf of Oman. This is a clear example of a successful blockade breakthrough.

The report also states that during the period from Tuesday to Wednesday, an empty supertanker under a false flag, appearing to be under U.S. sanctions, entered the strait through Iranian territorial waters. The vessel probably used a coastal route to reduce the risk of detection. Its movement was considered an attempt to break the blockade.

The report notes that despite the tightening of measures to ensure compliance with sanctions, the US maritime blockade has begun to influence the behavior of vessels in real-time mode, but so far has not stopped shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Windward, movement through the strait started on Tuesday morning. In total, 19 vessels passed through, seven of which were flying the Iranian flag. –0–
