Washington, April 3 /Xinhua/ — One crew member of the American F-15E fighter jet shot down south of Iran on Friday was rescued by U.S. armed forces, and the search operation to rescue two crew members continues. This was reported by CBS News, citing American officials.

As White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany reported, U.S. President Donald Trump was informed about the incident.

This is the first known case when a US military aircraft was shot down on the territory of Iran after the start of massive US and Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic on February 28.

The incident also marked the fourth lost F-15 during the conflict. A few days after the conflict began, Kuwait mistakenly shot down three fighters. All six crew members ejected and survived. –0–
