Beijing, April 3 /Xin Hua/ — Deputy Head of the Department of Development of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of China, Zhao Ce, emphasized on Friday the necessity to fundamentally and systematically advance the development of the space computing power sector.
As noted by Zhao Ce at the industry conference in Beijing, space computing capabilities have advantages in various aspects, such as real-time data processing in orbit, low energy cost, and wide territorial coverage.
According to him, in recent years China has gradually deployed the construction and pilot verification of space computing networks, accelerated technological breakthroughs, and advanced several projects for the creation of satellite constellations.
The official indicated that it is necessary to develop political measures aimed at stimulating construction and the use of space computing power; to support regions with appropriate conditions in the use of their own advantages for pilot projects, taking into account local specifics; to promote research and development of such technologies and products as radiation-resistant onboard microchips and intersatellite laser communication.
In addition, it is necessary to identify the possibilities of applying space computing power in such scenarios as processing remote sensing data in real time, enhancing communication, spatiotemporal information; supporting data processing in orbit in such areas as low-altitude economy and emergency communication, added Zhao Ce. –0–
