Wuhan, July 7 /Xinhua/ — 11 people died and one more is missing after thunderstorms and strong winds caused by powerful convective weather phenomena struck the eastern part of Hubei Province in Central China on Monday evening, according to local authorities.
Between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Monday, thunderstorms and strong winds struck the cities of Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou, and Xianning, with wind gusts reaching level 13 in two administrative township-level units, and tornadoes were recorded in some towns and townships.
According to local authorities, as a result of severe convective weather phenomena, 22 premises were destroyed and another 4,855 premises were damaged, with 331 local residents injured.
Large-scale rescue operations are underway in the province, and measures are being taken to prevent secondary natural disasters.
