Wuhan, July 7 /Xinhua/ — Eight people died and one more went missing after thunderstorms and strong winds caused by powerful convective weather phenomena struck the eastern part of Hubei Province in Central China on Monday evening, according to data from the provincial Department of Emergency Management.
Between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Monday, thunderstorms and strong winds hit the cities of Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou, and Xianning, with wind gusts reaching 13 points in two township-level administrative units, and tornadoes were recorded in some towns and townships.
Rescue operations are currently ongoing, local authorities reported. -0-
