The educational program “Architects.rf” is implemented by the company “DOM.RF” with the support of the Government and the Ministry of Construction as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” The professional community of graduates numbers 727 specialists from 180 cities and 83 regions of Russia. Currently, the eighth cohort is undergoing training, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin reported.
“In 2025, Chairman of the Government Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin signed a decree approving Architect’s Day in Russia. This important step once again emphasized the high significance of the profession for the country’s development. Architects define the appearance of settlements, work with historical heritage, public spaces, shaping the modern urban environment. It is such specialists who are united by the professional development program ‘Architects.rf’. To date, 727 people from 180 cities and 83 regions of Russia have completed the training. The core of the graduates consisted of state and municipal employees – 42%. This means that they can immediately apply the acquired knowledge in practice to transform their municipalities. In addition, among the graduates are 30% architects, 11% urban planners, 7% specialists in urban environment design, as well as developers, urbanists, restorers, and engineers. The program helps to replenish the shortage of qualified personnel and also forms a new generation of architects who are today celebrating their professional holiday,” said Marat Khusnullin.
During the training, participants’ ideas are developed and transformed into real projects. Many initiatives move on to practical implementation already after graduation.
“The ‘Architects.rf’ program has long surpassed the boundaries of an educational intensive. Today, it is a unique talent forge setting standards and an effective tool for training specialists to develop Russian cities. Graduates of the program work in development institutes, design organizations, and development companies. Fifty-nine of them are employed as city and regional architects—whose bold ideas shape a new quality of life in the country, creating a comfortable and modern environment for millions of people,” noted the CEO of DOM.RF, Vitaliy Mutko.
A number of alumni projects have received grant support from the Vladimir Potanin Charity Foundation. The project “March to the Factory,” created by graduates of the sixth cohort of the “Architects.rf” program, aims to revive the historic factory in Kyshtym, Chelyabinsk region. Another example is the revitalization strategy for the Sysert Porcelain Factory in the Sverdlovsk region, developed by last year’s graduates. Today, the concept has gained support and is moving towards practical implementation.
One of the successful transformation projects is the concept of a landscape-ruined park in the floodplain of the Iset River in the Sverdlovsk region. The project was developed during training in the second cohort of the program, and then significantly refined by the author. Today, it is the first park of this format in Russia, offering a new approach to rethinking industrial heritage.
The expertise of the “Architects.rf” community is also in demand for improving the regulatory framework. The methodological recommendations for the development of river passenger infrastructure, prepared within the program, were used in the development of the code of rules “Yacht Harbors. Design Rules” by specialists from the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering with financial support from “DOM.RF”.
