Moscow, July 6 /Xinhua/ — The ceremonial opening of the China-Russia cross-border media tour, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of cooperation between the Xinhua and TASS news agencies, took place on Monday in the Russian capital on the square in front of the main TASS building. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, General Director of TASS Andrey Kondrashov, the Ambassador of the PRC to Russia Zhang Hanhui, and the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
D. Chernyshenko noted that the partnership between TASS and Xinhua is continuously developing and deepening under the leadership of the two countries. The Russian stage of the joint media tour will follow the tourist route of the “Golden Ring.” Twenty-five journalists from both sides will visit several ancient cities known as “living textbooks of history.” The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that this event will not only strengthen practical cooperation and expand channels of collaboration between the two agencies but also serve as a powerful incentive for activating cultural and tourist exchanges, as well as for the joint development of the tourism industries of the two countries.
As A. Kondrashov stated, the current joint media tour clearly demonstrates the solid foundation of cooperation between Russian and Chinese media. In addition to professional collaboration in the field of news journalism, the program of the Russian stage aims to bring the peoples of the two countries closer. A. Kondrashov expressed hope that the media tour will help the agencies move from purely professional interaction to deeper cultural and humanitarian contacts, giving new momentum to the entire range of bilateral relations.
Zhang Hanhui emphasized that thanks to strategic planning and the leadership of the heads of the two states, relations between China and Russia are today at the highest level in their entire history. For 70 years, Xinhua and TASS have taken the most active part in the development of Sino-Russian relations, carefully documenting every stage of their history. The Chinese diplomat noted the original concept and rich content of the media tour project, which will allow showing a vivid picture of cooperation between the two countries from various perspectives and will become a new starting point for deepening the interaction between the two agencies.
M. Zakharova pointed out that currently the two agencies need to summarize their cooperation over several decades and develop new unique joint projects. According to her, personal visits, direct impressions, and live communication on site help verify mutual perceptions and strengthen mutual trust. She expressed hope that the route through the cities of the “Golden Ring” would become a genuine “road of friendship” between Russia and China.
The current media tour is divided into two stages — Russian and Chinese. The Russian part, under the motto “Roads of Friendship: Preserving the Past, Striving for the Future,” will take place from July 7 to 14 along the route of the “Golden Ring.” The Chinese stage of the media tour will begin later. –0–
