Beijing, July 3 /Xinhua/ — In response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that India and Japan intend to strengthen cooperation in the field of key minerals, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Friday that such cooperation should not be aimed against third countries or harm their interests.
“It is even more unacceptable to use such cooperation to create exclusive ‘small blocs’ or to incite confrontation under the pretext of cooperation,” said Guo Jiakun at the daily press briefing.
He emphasized that cooperation between states should contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and trust among the countries of the region, as well as maintaining regional peace and stability.
Maintaining the stability and security of global production and supply chains is a shared responsibility of all countries, he noted, adding that all parties must adhere to a mindset focused on openness and cooperation, playing a constructive role in this process. -0-
