A solemn ceremony of awarding certificates of secondary general education to graduates of the Natural Science Lyceum of SPbPU was held in the White Hall of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The lyceum conducted its 29th graduation, and it turned out to be truly special: of the 80 lyceum students admitted two years ago, all 80 graduated. This result became unique in the entire history of the lyceum. 64 graduates completed their studies in the physics and mathematics track, 16—in the chemical and biological track.
The academic results of this year surpassed previous achievements: for the first time in its history, the lyceum graduated 21 awardees — five received first-degree honors diplomas and 16 received second-degree honors diplomas. All graduates successfully passed the Unified State Exam, and the average score increased in all subjects.
As a result of the examination campaign, the lyceum recorded eight perfect scores: four in advanced mathematics and four in physics. Special mention should be made of Alexander Pozdyshev’s achievement, who scored 100 points in two subjects — mathematics and physics, and Daria Nazarenko, who scored a total of 290 points across three Unified State Exams — this is the best cumulative result in the lyceum this year.
More than 50 students scored over 240 points in the sum of three Unified State Exams (EGE), of which 15 scored more than 270 points. Eight graduates hold diplomas from the RSOSh list of olympiads, which grant the right to admission to SPbPU without entrance exams, and another 10 students are awarded diplomas from the regional and district stages of the All-Russian School Olympiad.
Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University rector Andrey Rudskoy addressed the graduates with a welcoming speech: You are entering a new, very important stage of life. You have been tempered by Polytech, and most importantly — you have been given a choice. It will be an honor for us to walk with you along the scientific, pedagogical, and engineering path.
The teaching staff of the lyceum also congratulated the graduates and expressed hope that many of them will continue their journey within the walls of the Polytechnic University.
The highlight of the celebration was the awarding of diplomas. Dmitry Tikhonov, Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education, and Roman Baybikov, Director of the Natural Sciences Lyceum, personally congratulated each graduate and presented a commemorative souvenir.
The director of the lyceum emphasized the historical significance of this year’s graduating class in his address: I am grateful to my colleagues for the high-quality preparation of the lyceum students; 21 medalists — this has never happened before at the lyceum. This pre-anniversary graduating class is very indicative: we see that the graduates have shown a very worthy result. We will be very happy if you decide to continue your journey hand in hand with the Polytechnic — not only as students but also as educators.
This is how graduates of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Natural Science Lyceum entered adult life — with record results, well-deserved diplomas, and hope that many of these young people will soon return to Polytechnic as students.
