Tehran, July 1 /Xinhua/ — Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Wednesday in Qatar’s capital Doha discussed the implementation of the recently signed US-Iran memorandum of understanding and the challenges faced by this process. This was reported by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As stated in the statement of the Iranian foreign ministry, the parties considered ways to accelerate the implementation of the memorandum, in particular in such aspects as ending the war in Lebanon and expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

According to the statement, following the bilateral meeting, senior negotiators from Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan held a trilateral meeting on the implementation of the memorandum, with the participant list not being disclosed.

K. Garibabadi noted that working groups have been formed for the further implementation of the memorandum and for negotiations on the final agreement, but the negotiations themselves have not yet begun, and consultations on the date and place of their conduct continue through intermediaries.

The statement specifies that the Iranian delegation in Doha, headed by K. Garibabadi, also includes representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank, and the Ministry of Agriculture of Iran. –0–
