On the field of the first International Transport and Logistics Forum in Saint Petersburg, a plenary discussion “Global Transport Corridors: Integration and ‘Seamless Logistics'” took place. It was attended by Vice Premiers Vitaly Savelyev and Dmitry Chernyshenko, as well as Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
Vitaly Saveliev, in his speech, talked about how Russia is developing the infrastructure of five key international corridors, including “North – South”, Azov-Black Sea, north-western and eastern directions, and the Northern Sea Route.
“Today, when a new architecture of world trade and cooperation is being formed, the importance of reliable, stable, and effective routes increases manifold. Having a unique geographical position, we offer not just routes, but safe and predictable transportation routes for our international partners around the world,” emphasized Vitaly Savelyev.
Dmitry Chernyshenko stopped at the issue of staffing the transport sector. He reported that by 2032 there will be a need for about 220 thousand highly qualified specialists to work.
“Footage is a separate priority. Therefore, specialized budget places are being expanded: more than 130,000 have been allocated for the current academic year. The ‘Professionalism’ programs (clusters with industry partners in 36 regions) and ‘Advanced Engineering Schools’ are being developed, including at the Russian University of Transport. At the same time, last year more than 8,500 foreign students from over 100 countries studied at transport universities in our country. Every fourth of them is a citizen of China,” commented the Deputy Prime Minister.
Andrey Nikitin said that the Ministry of Transport is facing three strategic tasks that are united into one. The first of them is the elimination of infrastructure constraints. The second is the formation of digital seamlessness and the development of autonomous driving. The third is the establishment of international cooperation.
In particular, as part of the digital seamlessness course, the development of the National Digital Transport and Logistics Platform “GosLog” is underway. During its creation, the task set by the President to reduce border crossing times to 10 minutes by providing documents electronically is being addressed. The Minister of Transport emphasized that when developing the NDTP “GosLog”, Russia is relying on the study of the best global practices: in particular, the Chinese platform Logink and the Indian project ULIP.
“Transport on an international scale must operate on the principle of fairness and mutual benefit. Russia is ready to share with partners from interested states our competencies, scientific developments, and educational opportunities. We see a huge field for mutual cooperation and will discuss its various directions in a series of meetings over three days at the first International Transport and Logistics Forum,” summarized Andrey Nikitin.
