Gaza, June 30 /Xinhua/ — The Palestinian movement HAMAS said on Tuesday that its delegation arrived in Cairo “to finalize work on implementing the ceasefire agreement.”
As specified in the movement’s statement, the delegation headed by the Hamas leader in the West Bank of the Jordan River, Zaher Jabarin, plans to hold a meeting with Egyptian officials and mediators.
Hamas emphasized that the main priorities are the “cessation of escalating violations by Israel in the Gaza Strip, including daily killings, ensuring the occupying authorities’ commitment to allowing all necessary goods into the Strip, including materials for the reconstruction of hospitals, bakeries, and infrastructure, as well as the implementation of the remaining provisions of the agreement signed in Sharm el-Sheikh.”
The statement notes that the current round of negotiations will also include discussions on the roadmap for the second phase of the agreement, jointly prepared with mediators “the High Representative for Gaza,” part of the US-led “Peace Council,” Nikolay Mladenov, details on the deployment of the administrative committee and international forces, and ultimately the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Palestinian enclave. –0–
