In honor of the 29th anniversary of the return of Xiang’an to the motherland and the deployment of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army contingent in Xiang’an, with the aim of further strengthening cooperation with representatives of all strata of Xiang’an society, troops stationed in Xiang’an held an Open Day in the barracks on Anquanchzhou Island on June 20-21, timed to the July 1 holiday, to which all willing residents of the city were invited.
After the flag-raising ceremony, the servicemen of the garrison held demonstration performances for the city’s residents on military disciplines such as military band marching, combat arts, bayonet exercises, and exercises from the combat training program “Osotnik”. The brilliant performances were met with enthusiastic applause.
After the demonstration presentations ended, the spectators headed to the weapons and military technology exhibition zone, where they were able to get acquainted with the weapons and equipment up close and try out some samples in action. The military personnel warmly welcomed the guests, the residents of Xiangan happily took selfies against the backdrop of various types of equipment, and the Open House Day passed in a joyful atmosphere.
The NOAK garrison in Xiangyang has been holding Open Day events for the 36th time, with more than 950,000 people visiting over 29 years. In recent years, the contingency stationed in Xiangyang has also organized camps for patriotic education and defense training for teenagers, defense education courses in educational institutions, and other activities, thereby continuing to strengthen ties with the residents of Xiangyang and expand its public activities.
