Islamabad, June 27 /Xinhua/ — At least three security personnel were killed as a result of a terrorist attack on a Rangers forces facility in the port city of Karachi in southern Pakistan. This was reported on Saturday by a Xinhua correspondent quoting a police spokesperson.

The incident occurred around 20:10 local time /15:10 GMT/, when a group of terrorists drove a car loaded with explosives to the main gate of the “Rangers” building in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar area of Karachi, reported the provincial police inspector general of Sindh, Javed Alam Odho.

He added that during the shootout between security forces and the attackers, four terrorists were eliminated.

According to the police representative, the security forces employees on duty at the gates promptly and effectively responded to the attack, not allowing the terrorists to break into the facility’s territory.

After the incident, large police forces were sent to the scene. An operation to clear the area is currently underway.

No group or individual has yet taken responsibility for the attack.
