Tehran, June 27 /Xin Hua/ — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone talks on Friday with his colleagues from Uzbekistan, the Republic of Korea /ROK/, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan to discuss the implementation of the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.
According to statements from the Iranian foreign ministry, A. Araghchi informed his foreign colleagues about recent events related to the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, including the negotiation process between Tehran and Washington on achieving a final agreement and consultations conducted in this context.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Baxtiyor Saidov, and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ruminian Oan Tsoy, welcomed the ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in Central Asia, emphasizing the necessity of continuing the process and the fulfillment by the involved parties of their mutual obligations, according to the statement.
The Foreign Minister of the PRC, Qin Gang, announced support for his country’s diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability, as well as the security of shipping in the region, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
A. Aragchi and his colleagues also called for the continuation of diplomatic and political consultations to ensure lasting regional stability and the expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation, according to the statement.
On June 18, Iran and the USA signed a memorandum of understanding, which provides for the cessation of war in the region on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Currently, both sides are negotiating to reach a final agreement, mainly concerning Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions against it.
