Jerusalem, June 27 /Singhua/ — It is expected that Israel, Lebanon, and the United States will soon sign a framework agreement in Washington, providing for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from certain southern areas of Lebanon. Israeli media reported this on Friday.
According to broadcasts by the guest channels Kan TV News and Channel 12 News, the parties have agreed on the withdrawal of Israeli troops from two pilot zones in southern Lebanon, where subsequently units of the Lebanese army will be deployed.
At the first stage, American troops will be accompanied by Lebanese forces to assist in the execution of the mission, the channels added.
As reported, Israeli forces will be withdrawn within the limits of the “security zone” they hold. The agreement will consolidate the continued military presence of Israel in southern Lebanon until the complete disarmament of the “Hezbollah” group.
According to reports, the parties have also reached agreements on the issue of the “Hezbollah” tunnels in southern Lebanon and on countering the growing influence of the group, as well as on negotiations regarding the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon. –0–
