Tashkent, June 26 /Xin Hua/ — In the first quarter of 2026, 28 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in Uzbekistan, which is 4.3 percent more than the figure for the same period last year. This is evidenced by data from the National Statistics Committee of the country.
In the structure of the cargo flow, leading positions were occupied by raw materials and products of heavy industry. The largest volume of transportation fell on various ores — 3.9 million tons. The volume of transportation of bulk oil cargoes amounted to 3.4 million tons.
A significant share in the overall statistics is accounted for by solid fuel and metallurgical products. From January to March of the current year, 2.7 million tons of coal and 1.8 million tons of ferrous metals were transported by the republic’s railways. For the needs of the construction sector, 1.5 million tons of profile cargo were delivered.
Among the other categories of goods, the volume of lumber amounted to 0.63 million tons, while the transportation of seasonal agricultural products reached 0.26 million tons. Other cargo accounted for 8.9 million tons. -0-
