Beijing, June 26 /Xinhua/ — China values the China-Cambodia friendship, nurtured by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries, and intends to jointly with Cambodia multiply it, transforming bilateral ties into a model of China’s relationships with neighboring countries. This was stated on Friday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi.
Van Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made a corresponding statement in Beijing during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Sun Chanthol, who accompany the Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party, Chairman of the Senate / upper house of parliament / Hun Sen during his visit to China.
As indicated by the head of the MID KN, the Chinese side highly values Cambodia’s active support for the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and four global initiatives. According to him, China is ready to strengthen strategic coordination with Cambodia in international and regional affairs, protect the common interests of the Global South, and make an indispensable contribution to the promotion of peace and development in the region and worldwide.
Prak Sokhonn, in turn, stated that Cambodia attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and is ready to work with the Chinese side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchanges at a high level, deepen strategic mutual trust, promote cohesion and coordination, as well as jointly protect multilateralism and the basic norms governing international relations.
Sun Chanto, in turn, noted that Cambodia counts on deepening cooperation with China in such areas as trade, investment, and infrastructure, adding that the Cambodian side welcomes Chinese enterprises wishing to invest and conduct business in the country, and will not spare efforts to create a safe and friendly business environment.
