Tokyo, June 26 /Xinhua/ — The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated on Friday that the agency conducted a “preliminary exchange of views” with Iranian officials regarding inspections of nuclear sites. This was reported by the Kyodo News agency.
“We had a preliminary exchange of views with the Iranian side at the technical level,” said R. Grossi at a press conference in Tokyo.
According to him, the exchange took place last Friday in the Swiss town of Bürglen.
Earlier this week, Mr. Grossi stated that the IAEA will conduct inspections in Iran in accordance with the recently signed memorandum of understanding between the USA and Iran.
A senior Iranian diplomat stated on Wednesday that Tehran does not plan to grant the IAEA access to its nuclear sites that have been subjected to bombings by the United States and Israel, noting that such issues will be resolved solely within the framework of a potential final agreement with Washington and as a result of the other party practically lifting all sanctions.
