M. Mishustin:Dear participants, organizers, guests!

Welcome to the International Youth Nuclear Forum, which for the fourth time gathers students, experts, and leaders of the nuclear industry from more than 70 countries here, in the first Russian science city, where advanced scientific organizations in many directions are concentrated.

This gives participants a unique opportunity to see how modern energy and other high-tech sectors live, establish useful contacts, and acquire relevant professional skills.

According to an established tradition, the forum is held on June 26. It was on this day in the mid-20th century in Obninsk that the first atomic power plant in history began operation, marking the era of using energy from nuclear decay for peaceful purposes to advance all of humanity.

As President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin emphasized, only Russia today possesses competencies in the entire technological chain of nuclear energy. And thanks to the safety, resilience to external influences of atomic stations built according to Russian design, they are the most in-demand in the world.

This time, the main site of the forum became the international scientific and educational cluster “Obninsk TE”, where more than 2,000 students from dozens of countries study. It was created during the Decade of Science and Technology and in two years has become a global center of attraction for talented youth, a flagship in the training of engineering and scientific personnel. Here, education is received based on the best Russian universities, practice is conducted at the country’s leading enterprises with the solution of real production tasks.

The government is strengthening support for the development of the domestic nuclear industry. In the coming years, it is planned to build almost forty power units with a capacity of 30 GW, including the latest fourth-generation reactors. In addition, we will continue the production of small nuclear power plants, increase the already operated fleet of nuclear icebreakers, which, I remind you, has no analogues in the world, for use both in deep water and in shallow water.

And of course, across the entire country, there is an expansion of nuclear medicine infrastructure and a range of radiopharmaceuticals. This, by the way, is not only in oncology but also for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and nervous system diseases.
