Participants of the VK complex defense
At SPBGASU, the defenses of integrated diploma TIM projects – an innovative format of graduate qualification works of this year’s graduates – have been completed.
Comprehensive diploma projects are created by teams of students from various fields of study within the frameworkeducational project “Innovative methodology for forming digital professional competencies of students and specialists in the construction industry”, which has been implemented at the university since 2022Educational center for project-based learningиEducational Center for Digital CompetenciesSPBGASU.
The result of teamwork is digital information models of capital construction objects, reflecting various sections of design documentation. The project integrates architectural appearance, engineering networks, and construction structures; participants develop the organization of construction works, prepare the construction estimate, and forecast future operating costs of the object. The main connecting link is the TIM coordinator, who organizes the joint work of the participants, unites all sections and ensures their mutual coordination; oversees the sequence and accuracy of the introduction of new data by the participants, creating the final version of the consolidated digital model. Each team member defends their section before the unified examination commission.
Students who had not yet graduated helped graduates with their projects, gaining experience in project activities.Complete lists of teams – project participants)

The project curator is a senior lecturer of the Department of Information and Mathematical ModelingVitaliy Sharanin.Students proposed an architectural and structural solution for a high-rise residential complex taking into account the developer’s requirements. Digital modeling allowed for precise elaboration of all construction stages and ensured the quality of the project.
Traditionally, the head of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning department at the State Examination Commission (GEC) of the company “Metropolis”Sergey BryuzginHigh teamwork skills of SPbGASU graduates: “I am the third time at such a commission, and from the first time it was already clear that this is a very sought-after format for us as an employer, because it teaches students to work together. And good becomes only that project in which the team was able to cooperate. In our case, the experience of participation of our potential employee in such a complex interdisciplinary project will be an advantage when hiring. This significantly saves time and costs for the employer to train a young specialist.”
Sergey Bryuzgin
In Sergey Bryuzgin’s opinion, the current academic year was advantageously different from previous ones in that the work on the comprehensive project took place over two semesters, so there was enough time for professional consultations, master classes, answers to questions, and project recommendations. “This is precisely working with the client: the guys gained experience interacting with people from outside who are not affiliated with the university. Am I ready to hire any of them? I would hire all of them! Overall, all the ideas can be turned into complete projects; there is nothing here that could not be realized in life.”
All graduates successfully completed the project tasks using modern digital technologies and defended their diplomas with an “excellent” grade.
Summing up, the Chairman of the State Expert Commission, General Director of LLC “RUSEC-STROIPROEKT”Alexander Lapygincongratulated the graduates on completing their studies, on the excellent defense of their diploma works, and wished the guys a happy professional journey: “We are confident that the efforts you have invested in your university education, this experience of joint work will be very useful to you, and we hope that you will apply the acquired knowledge to do good for yourselves, for the companies where you will work, for the cities that you will design, and to make our world better.”
