Kinshasa, June 26 /Xin Hua/ — The number of victims of the ongoing Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has exceeded 300 people, while the country is strengthening measures to contain the spread of the disease. This was reported by the Ministry of Communications and Information of the country in a bulletin published on Thursday.
According to the latest data, 1155 confirmed cases of the disease have been registered, including 304 deaths. In total, 138 patients have recovered, while another 326 are still in hospital and under quarantine.
A confirmed case of Ebola infection has been identified in a French doctor who participated in the fight against the outbreak in Ituri province, the center of the epidemic, according to a message from the ministry on the social network X. It is noted that the health authorities of both countries are closely monitoring the situation.
As part of strengthening control measures, the DRC has introduced stricter entry rules for individuals returning from areas affected by the Ebola outbreak.
