Tashkent, June 25 /Sina ukua/ — The international rating agency Moody’s Ratings on Thursday upgraded Uzbekistan’s long-term sovereign credit rating from Ba3 to Ba2, while changing the outlook from “positive” to “stable.”

The increase is due to the strengthening of the institutional environment, the diversification of the economy, and the improvement of budgetary discipline.

According to Moody’s data, Uzbekistan’s GDP grew by 7.7% in 2025 and by 8.7% in the first quarter of 2026. The average annual economic growth rates for the last three years amounted to 6.5%. The agency also noted a significant reduction in the budget deficit — approximately down to 2 percent.

Separately, Moody’s highlights the successful dual listing of the National Investment Fund of Uzbekistan in May of this year, during which approximately 691 million dollars were raised amid high interest from international investors. According to the agency’s assessment, this indicates the authorities’ readiness to consistently reduce the state’s share in the economy and improve corporate governance.

A stable forecast reflects the agency’s view that risks at the Ba2 level are generally balanced. Moody’s expects a slowdown in economic growth rates to 6.1-6.3% in 2026-2027, but predicts that they will remain among the highest assessed countries.
