Washington, April 7 /Sin Hua/ — US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran could be “destroyed” in one night, and this could happen on Tuesday.
“The entire country can be destroyed in one night, and that night could be tomorrow /April 7/,” he said at a press conference in the White House.
The president also noted that Iran is an “active and voluntary participant” in the negotiations. Contacts through intermediaries “are going well,” he added.
“I cannot speak about the ceasefire, but I can say that we have an active, voluntary participant on the other side. They would possibly have the opportunity to conclude an agreement. I cannot say more,” said D. Trump.
“In essence, there is time until 20:00 tomorrow evening in /North American/ Eastern Time, but we are working with them. I think everything is going well,” added the head of the White House.
The president also announced that his administration has developed a plan to destroy bridges and power plants throughout Iran by midnight Tuesday.
“I mean complete destruction by 12 o’clock. And it will happen within four hours if we take action. We are not taking action to make this happen,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, D. Trump noted that the deadline he set for concluding the deal and unblocking the Hormuz Strait — 8:00 PM Tuesday North American Eastern Time — is final.
US Secretary of Defense P. Hagset stated at the same press conference that American forces will deliver the most powerful strikes on Iran from the beginning of the conflict on February 28.
“By the president’s order, today will be the largest scale strike from the first day of this operation. Tomorrow — even larger than today. Then Iran will have a choice,” he told journalists. –0–
