Lanzhou, June 25 /Xinhua/ — On Thursday, the first China-Europe train, loaded with 1,210 tons of high-quality polyolefins and new specialty chemical materials, departed from the Gansu international dry port (Lanzhou), located in the city of Lanzhou (administrative center of Gansu Province, Northwest China).
It is known that this train will cross the state border through the Alashankou checkpoint, located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region / USA, Northwest China /, and will arrive in the Polish capital Warsaw via Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus.
Compared to the traditional “land-sea” combined transportation model, in the case of cargo transportation by freight trains China-Europe, customs clearance times are significantly reduced and product losses decrease, thus the total transportation time is reduced by more than 50 percent.
Lanzhou is an important base for the petrochemical industry in northwest China. It is reported that the successful launch of the China-Europe train for the transportation of chemical products marked the entry of chemical product exports from Lanzhou into the stage of scaled, regular, and stable supply.
