On June 24, 2026, the Moscow Exchange summed up the results of the MOEX AI Hackathon – a competition for creating the most promising AI agents for exchange trading. Out of 50 developer teams, three teams became winners, demonstrating the maximum portfolio return based on the test results and receiving the highest evaluation from the expert jury.
The selection of winners was conducted based on a set of criteria: the level of AI autonomy in making trading decisions, the transparency of algorithmic logic, the effectiveness of risk management mechanisms, the quality of the data used, financial indicators — trading turnover and the size of virtual capital based on the results of autonomous trading. The winners shared a prize fund of 1 million rubles.
The hackathon took place from May 13 to June 10. The competition consisted of two stages. Initially, participants created trading AI agents for two weeks. Then these systems autonomously managed a portfolio worth 1 million virtual rubles in an environment as close as possible to real stock trading.
Daniil Naumov, Director of Innovation Development of Artificial Intelligence at the Moscow Exchange:
“The MOEX AI Hackathon demonstrated the high potential of applying artificial intelligence in the financial market. We thank all the teams for their participation, strong ideas, and willingness to experiment in one of the most responsible areas of AI application – exchange trading. At the same time, it is important to remember: an AI agent should not be perceived as an independent market participant outside the existing regulatory and technological framework. Its application must be integrated into the infrastructure of professional participants, brokers, and clients, as well as be accompanied by reliable risk control mechanisms.”
The Artificial Intelligence Development Office of the Moscow Exchange is engaged in the AI transformation of the group, optimizing both classic processes of the exchange business and internal tools for company employees. In 2025, the team introduced to the market an investment assistant, FinGPT, capable of performing analysis and selection of securities, market sentiment analysis, and generating a summary of relevant news. Employees of the exchange also have access to such tools as an AI assistant to optimize processes. MOEX Insight, model for data processing MOEX GPT and AI copilot for coding MOEX Code Agent.
