History of the DepartmentIt began after the division in 1976 of the Department of Construction Production into the Department of Technology of Construction Production and the Department of Organization, Planning, and Management of Construction (OPUS) – now the Department of Organization of Construction.
The main directions of the educational and methodological work of the department became the organization of construction and automated construction management systems. This involved improving the educational process aimed at translating the discipline OPUS from descriptive to computational. The development of the theoretical basis led to the formation of the Petersburg school of flow organization of work.
Department staff
The department’s faculty improve the quality management system in construction based on optimization methods for calculating construction schedules, evaluating the quality of construction organization projects, and techno-economic assessment of construction works. Research is conducted at the department on the development of organizational foundations for management, multi-level scheduling of construction of facilities and complexes.The department actively cooperates with leading construction and design organizations, participates in solving organizational and technological tasks, and takes part in the development of regulatory and technical documentation.
At the department, projects were developed for the production of works on technologically complex facilities, including the ski jumps of the Olympic sports complex in Sochi, the facilities of the Novovoronezh NPP-2, the St. Petersburg administrative and public-business complex “Nevskaya Ratusha”, “Lachta-Center” and “Gazprom Arena”.
The department’s teachers actively participate in conducting forensic examinations, including those commissioned by the Investigative Committee.
The department actively engages in publishing activities by releasing monographs, educational and methodological, and scientific publications, and holds annual scientific and technical conferences.
Students of the department regularly become winners and prize-winners of VK Olympiads and competitions, the All-Russian TIM Championship at SPbGASU.
Currently, the department actively combines the educational process with scientific and practical developments in the field of calendar planning, 4D modeling, and the application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the field of construction organization.
