Tbilisi, June 22 /Xin Hua/ — The share of foreign citizens in the total population of Georgia is 3.4%, which amounts to about 134 thousand people. This was reported on Monday by the director of the National Statistics Service of Georgia, Gogita Todradze, presenting the main results of the population census.
The population and agricultural census of Georgia took place from November 14 to December 31, 2024.
According to G. Todradze, among the foreign citizens permanently residing in Georgia, the largest group consists of Russian citizens — 37.7 thousand people, which corresponds to approximately 1% of the country’s population. Next are citizens of India — 23.9 thousand people, Ukraine — 11.5 thousand, Azerbaijan — 8.3 thousand, and Armenia — 5.4 thousand people.
The total population of Georgia, as noted by the official, amounts to 3.93 million people, which is 5.8 percent more than according to the 2014 census data. Among them, 96.1 percent are citizens of Georgia, the total number of the country’s citizens is 3.78 million people. –0–
