Bürgenstock /Switzerland/, June 22 /Xin Hua/ — The Strait of Hormuz is open, crude oil and natural gas are transported through it without hindrance. This was stated on Monday in Bürgenstock by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance.
“We wanted to make the mechanism for opening the Ormuz Strait clear. It is open,” said J.D. Vans, speaking after the completion of the first round of American-Iranian talks held at the Bürgenstock resort in the central part of Switzerland.
He added that gas and oil prices are falling, and millions of barrels of crude oil and natural gas are being transported through the Strait of Hormuz, which never happened before.
About 20 percent of the world’s maritime oil shipments pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran intensified control over it after Israel and the USA carried out joint strikes on this country on February 28. In addition, the United States imposed a naval blockade on ships heading to and from Iran.
J. D. Vance also indicated that the Iranians agreed once again to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on their territory.
Calling this a “significant step,” the Vice President of the USA noted that this is the first step toward permanent denuclearization or the complete cessation of the nuclear weapons development program in Iran.
The groups of negotiators from the USA and Iran, with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan, began their talks on June 21 at the mountain resort of Bürgenstock in the central part of Switzerland, which became the first round of direct negotiations between the two sides after the signing of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding on June 18.
