From June 7 to 9, in Hubei Province, a thematic orientation program “Human Rights in Action in China – 2026”, organized by the Press Office of the NPC, took place. Representatives and experts from various countries visited local parks, urban neighborhoods, and high-tech enterprises to see firsthand how the life of the Chinese people becomes happier and more prosperous thanks to the country’s development.
Previously, there were many piers on the banks of the Qinshan River in the city of Wuhan, with sand and gravel lying everywhere. Today, along the river stretches an ecological corridor 7.5 kilometers long, with a greening level reaching 80%. “The scale of the changes allows us to realize the exceptional importance of environmental restoration,” noted Maria Florencia Polo, chief economic advisor of the Center for Development Studies of Uruguay.
On a 105-kilometer green route along Lake Dunsu in Uhan, elderly people stroll by the lake, children run across the lawns, and young people ride bicycles. To better preserve the habitat of more species of wild animals, 13 bio-corridors were also planned during construction.
“This is a large-scale project aimed at protecting the environment and improving people’s lives,” said Odmaa Mun, a researcher and analyst at the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia.
In the historical and cultural quarter of Tanshualin in Ulan, event participants learned about the measures for the preservation and development of this area. “I am very glad to feel the culture and history here: they live on the streets we walk on and in the buildings we see.” Having visited China again after 60 years, the chairman of the Chilean non-governmental organization “Human Rights Without Borders,” Juan Carlos Moraga, was impressed by the country’s progress.
Delegates also visited the Innovation Center for Humanoid Robots in Hubei Province, where 23 real scenarios were recreated, including supermarkets, restaurants, and factories. Focusing on practical application, the center promotes technological breakthroughs and industry development. “China’s scientific and technological progress has been put at the service of humanity – this is truly impressive,” said Hun Yu-su, executive director of the Cultural Heritage Foundation of the Chinese diaspora in the Philippines, expressing hope that Chinese humanoid robots will be exported to more countries in the future.
A trip to Hubei Province allowed the event participants to gain a deeper understanding of how China promotes the protection of human rights through development and consistently meets the growing needs of the population for the realization of various rights. “This made a huge impression on me and deeply touched me,” said Faratiana Radjaobarielina, Director of the Department for Legal and Consular Affairs and Dispute Resolution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar.Participants noted that many regions of China deserve to be studied and can be used by other countries, and expressed their intention to share their impressions at home.
