Heshe, June 21 /Xinshiwa/ — In the city of Heshe /Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China/ on Saturday, a city friendship tournament took place, the first event within the framework of the 2026 China-Russia dance festival “Purple Night”.
12 leading dance groups from China and Russia participated in the tournament. Seven Chinese teams represented sister cities, including Zhuhai (Guangdong Province, South China), while five Russian teams were formed from professional young dancers from various regions of Russia.
Applications for participation in the month-long festival were submitted by 68 groups and over 1300 dancers from the Greater Guangdong-Siang’an-Aomen Bay region and various provinces and cities of China, as well as a number of cities in Russia. In addition to the city friendship tournament held on June 20, youth university tournaments with the participation of university dance clubs will be held as part of the festival on June 27 and July 4, educational and creative tournaments for dance schools and study groups from China and Russia will take place on July 11 and 18, and the festival will conclude on July 25 with a “carnival night.”
As a result of the city friendship tournament, the dance team Jaguar Team from the city of Changchun, Jilin Province /Northeast China/ won in the Chinese group, and in the Russian group — the studio “Ritm” from Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
As noted by the event organizing committee, holding the dance festival “Purple Night” not only demonstrates the creative potential of the youth of two countries, but also makes a practical contribution to the implementation of initiatives for the joint development of border territories, opening new horizons for multifaceted humanitarian interaction between China and Russia. -0-
