Tashkent, June 19. /Xin Hua/ — Uzbekistan welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the USA and Iran, calling it a significant diplomatic breakthrough on the path to restoring regional security. This was stated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on Friday.
The statement emphasizes that Uzbekistan considers this agreement an important step towards de-escalating tensions, as well as restoring regional security and stability amid a complex international situation.
In the Uzbek foreign policy department, they noted the political will of the parties demonstrated in reaching agreements, expressing hope that this step will lay the foundation for long-term peaceful resolution of the situation.
MID of Uzbekistan gave a high assessment to the mediation efforts of Pakistan and Qatar, noting the contribution of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other regional partners, who assisted in creating conditions for advancing the negotiation process.
It is also emphasized that Uzbekistan consistently advocates for the constructive continuation of dialogue and the effective implementation of the agreements reached. Uzbekistan confirmed its principled position that the resolution of any conflicts should be carried out exclusively through diplomatic means based on international law, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all parties.
