Tehran, June 19 /Xin Hua/ — The Persian Gulf Security Authority of Iran (PGSA), which regulates shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, reported on Friday the introduction of new rules for vessels wishing to pass through this waterway, including the requirement to submit transit applications no later than 48 hours before entering its waters.
As PGSA emphasized in its publication on social network X, “only those courts that comply with these requirements will be ‘immediately admitted to proceedings.’
According to the report, transit applications must be submitted exclusively through the department’s website or its email and contain “valid and accessible” vessel contact information.
The administration clarified that to avoid court delays, applications for passage and mandatory information must be submitted “no later than 48 hours before arrival in the strait area.”
PGSA also announced that during the 60-day period stipulated by the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA, courts will be exempt from the fees provided for transit through the strait. It is noted that all fees related to security provision, labor inspection, and environmental measures, as well as the corresponding requirements of the Iranian side regarding the inspection, will be covered by the Government of Iran. –0–
