Two powerful earthquakes occurred off the coast of Kamchatka

Vladivostok /Russia/, June 19 /Sinya/ — Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.9 and 6.2 occurred on Friday on the eastern coast of the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula. This was reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The most powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred at 6:52 local time, 178 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Another quite strong earthquake was observed at 7:52 local time. The magnitude of the underground shock reached 6.2, it occurred 175 km from the city.

Residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Elizovo, the largest cities in Kamchatka, reported that due to powerful underground tremors, chandeliers were swinging and closet doors were rattling. To ensure their safety, they had to hold on to walls and door frames.
