Beijing, June 19 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, together with six other departments, has published an action plan to promote the coordinated development of large, medium, and small enterprises in the field of platform economy for the period from 2026 to 2028.
The plan is aimed at promoting innovative cooperation, synergy of ecosystems, and open interaction between enterprises of various scales, more comprehensive stimulation of creativity and competitiveness of the platform economy, as well as facilitating deeper integration of the real and digital economies.
According to the plan, by 2028 China intends to significantly increase the level of coordinated development of platform enterprises of various scales, to form a number of reproducible models of joint innovations, and to create a group of leading enterprises specializing in specific production niches in the field of platform economy.
The plan also calls for greater openness and exchange of technologies and data, and defines key tasks and specific actions, including directing platform enterprises to strengthen innovation in the field of artificial intelligence/AI/, deepening algorithm and traffic management, as well as promoting algorithm transparency.
Platform economy is a new form of economy built on an internet platform. China’s platform economy is currently at a critical stage of transformation and modernization. In this context, there is an acute necessity to adapt to new requirements of economic and social development, as well as technological and industrial transformations during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).
Yu Siangwei, director of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), stated that all parties should use the implementation of the action plan as a starting point for building an open, shared, diversified, and innovation-oriented platform economy system.
These efforts will allow large enterprises to strengthen their positions in the ecosystem by revealing their capabilities, help small and medium enterprises unlock innovative potential through the free movement of production factors, and bring the development of the platform economy to a new level, noted Yu Xiao Wei.
