Bishkek, June 18 /Xin Hua/ — Kyrgyzstan welcomes the “achievement of a peace agreement” between the USA and Iran, said on Thursday on social media the press secretary of the country’s president, Askat Alagozov.

We express our gratitude to all parties involved, including the member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization — Pakistan, for their active mediation efforts, as well as to all parties affected for the demonstrated restraint, which contributed to achieving this result, the statement says.

According to A. Alagozov, consistently advocating for the resolution of disagreements exclusively through political-diplomatic means, based on the UN Charter and generally recognized norms of international law, Kyrgyzstan expresses the hope that the official signing of the agreement will contribute to the establishment of a stable and long-term peace in the region.

As reported on Thursday on the social network X by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, a memorandum of understanding between the USA and Iran was signed electronically by the leaders of both countries and came into effect immediately. The document stipulates that Iran will immediately open the Strait of Hormuz, while the USA will lift the naval blockade as the first step following the implementation of the agreement.
