Family atmosphere, national costumes, and a celebration of unity – on June 16, a solemn opening of the II All-Russian Student Families Festival took place at GUU.
Around 400 people from 52 regions of Russia gathered at the State University of Management, including 129 student families and 130 university employees: rectors, vice-rectors, specialists who help young families combine studies and family life.
Having gathered, Senator of the Federation Council Liliya Gumerova greeted them, urging not only to continue creating a family but also to focus on the continuation of the lineage.
“The past year 2025, the year of the family, became defining in supporting families. The concept of ‘student family’ was established, a golden standard for supporting student families was developed, which is now being widely implemented in universities across Russia. The student period is the time when there are all opportunities not only to receive an education but also to create a strong family and do everything possible so that, together with the diploma, your children take the stage,” said Lilia Gumerova.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova thanked everyone for their participation and wished family happiness and well-being.
“The student family is the start of a great joint journey that you go through together, overcoming difficulties both in studies and exams, sharing the joys of victories and achievements. All this makes you stronger and more united. The festival is held for the second time, and we hope it will become a good tradition. Today, there are no losers; you have all already won the most important thing – in your family!” – addressed the participants Olga Petrova.
The rector of Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin Pavel Moiseev spoke about the support of student families by the country’s universities. He emphasized that the sincere interest of the Ministry of Education and Science motivates university leaders to create not only the necessary infrastructure but also to form new spaces, opportunities, and support measures.
Vice-Rector of GHU Pavel Pavlovskiy wished families love and mutual understanding and officially opened the Festival.
“Russia is a family of families. Our state implements many projects and programs so that in our country every citizen feels good and everyone has the opportunity for self-realization. What could be better than coming home and hugging the person who is waiting for you and with whom you feel good. Let our student families be larger. And may there reign true, constant, endless love!” concluded Pavel Pavlovsky.
The evening continued with creative performances prepared by the finalists of the All-Russian competition “Student Families of Russia.” 30 student families from 26 regions took the stage to showcase the multinational nature of the country through their own story.
A total of 253 applications were submitted this year for the competition from student families, including 50 families with children, from 55 regions of Russia. At the first remote stage, the jury evaluated the video resumes and achievements of the participants, ultimately selecting 30 finalists who advanced to the final stage in Moscow. Now the young people are awaiting competitions in sports, creative, culinary, and intellectual contests.
Ahead of the festival participants and contestants lie two more eventful days at the venues of MSU and Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
Young families will be able to communicate with opinion leaders, receive personalized advice from family psychologists, and try their skills in an interactive master class. And university representatives will immerse themselves in an educational program from experts from federal and regional authorities and lecturers of the Russian society “Znanie,” within which they will discuss improving support for student families and share successful experiences.
On June 18, the absolute winner of the “Best Student Family – 2026” contest will be announced, as well as the best families in the nominations “Creative Family”, “Sporty Family”, “Audience Choice Award” and special nominations from the contest founders.
Our university proudly became one of the organizers of the II All-Russian Festival of Student Families alongside the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, and G.R. Derzhavin Tambov State University. Support was provided by the Federation Council and the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy.
The festival is held in accordance with the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated May 7, 2024, No. 309 “On the national goal of developing the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and the prospect up to 2036,” as well as within the framework of educational events provided by the federal project “Family Support” of the national project “Family.”
