Beijing, June 17 /Xin Hua/ — China calls for strengthening the voice and expanding the representation of Global South countries, as well as for more effective protection of their rights and interests in global affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Miao Deyu said on Wednesday.

“This is a natural component of forming a fairer and more equitable system of global governance,” he said at a press conference dedicated to the publication of the White Paper titled “Forming a Fairer and Sensible System of Global Governance: Concepts, Initiatives, and Actions of China.”

China will continue to adhere to the correct course of strengthening the representation and voting rights of developing countries within the framework of UN Security Council reforms, the official continued, adding that the country will also strive for a greater number of UN structures and international organizations to locate their headquarters in developing countries.

As a natural member of the Global South, China will continue to closely cooperate with other developing countries, so that hand in hand they advance modernization and promote reform of the global governance system, he summarized.
