Evian-les-Bains /France/, June 16 /Sina/ — The United States may soon restore restrictions on supplies of Russian oil. This was announced on Tuesday by U.S. President Donald Trump at the G7 summit in France, where efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine occupy a central place on the agenda.

Speaking to journalists in Évian-les-Bains, a town on the shore of Lake Geneva in eastern France, D. Trump noted that restrictions on the supply of Russian oil may be lifted after the opening of the Strait of Hormuz allows increased transit of oil. “We will be able to do this soon,” the US president said, mentioning the peace agreement with Iran reached recently.

In March, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a 30-day license allowing countries to purchase Russian crude oil and petroleum products that had already been loaded onto ships and were stuck at sea. The license was later extended, as the conflict involving Iran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz area continued to exert pressure on oil markets. –0–
