Beijing, June 16 /Xinhua/ — China is ready to cooperate with Pakistan to continuously promote peace and advance dialogue, and will also continue to make efforts for the earliest restoration of peace, stability, and development in the Middle East. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday.
Van Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the corresponding statement in the course of a telephone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Makhmmad Ishaq Dar.
M. I. Dar informed Van I about the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA, reached at the first stage of the implementation of agreements on peaceful settlement, and also expressed China’s gratitude for maintaining close communication with Pakistan over the past several months and providing valuable support to his mediation efforts.
The Pakistani side expects the continuation of communication and coordination with the Chinese side, considering the current dynamics of peaceful negotiations and joint involvement of a positive role in achieving lasting peace and stability in the region, added M. I. Dar.
Van I in turn congratulated Pakistan on facilitating the achievement of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA, agreed upon in the first stage of implementing agreements on peaceful resolution, and emphasized that working for peace is an international responsibility shared by all countries, including China and Pakistan.
According to the Chinese diplomat, until now, as long as there is hope for peace, any efforts are justified.
Since the beginning of the war, China has interacted with all parties and actively contributed to the cessation of fire and peaceful negotiations, noted the head of the SCO Foreign Ministerial. From the very beginning, China firmly supported Pakistan and emphasized to all parties that Pakistan is a reliable mediator, he added, also pointing out that China interacted with Iran and the United States in its own way.
Quoting a Chinese proverb: “Ninety miles from the city is only half the journey,” Van I noted that the current consensus is far from the end, but a new starting point, and a stable peace in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region still requires constant efforts from all parties.
As the head of the Chinese foreign affairs department stated, it can be anticipated that compared to the first stage of negotiations, the second stage will be even more difficult. However, he emphasized that China is convinced that there should be no turning point in the negotiations between the United States and Iran, and even more so, there should be no return to the use of force.
The head of the MID stated that the international community should continue to facilitate negotiations between Iran and the USA, and multilateral institutions, including the UN Security Council, should also play a more significant role in this regard.
China has always believed that the countries of the Middle East should hold their own future and destiny in their own hands, and advocates for working out the creation of the architecture of world peace and security with the participation of all the countries of the region through dialogue and consultations, he said.
