On June 14–15, the International Children’s Center “Artek” became the venue for the “Technology Festival” — an event within the framework of the annual international children’s festival “Let There Always Be Sunshine.” Almost 3,000 Artek campers of the sixth shift took part in the intensive two-day program, organized with the participation of the State University of Management.
Dialogue about the future
The Rector’s Day of GUU Vladimir Stroev began with a business breakfast with the director of the Center Konstantin Fedorenko. The leaders summed up the results of joint work from 2024 and discussed plans for expanding cooperation, including new educational programs and internship opportunities for Artek participants.
After breakfast, the rector visited the “Artek” school and met with students from grades 6–11. He told the kids about the key areas of study at GUU, the active student life, and the modern infrastructure of the university. In his address to the schoolchildren, the rector emphasized the importance of education and self-development:
“The Motherland primarily needs human resources. Management positions should be filled by highly qualified people who value their country. You are facing a challenging but promising and interesting future because you live in the largest country. The most important thing is not to miss the moment. You are our future: learn, use all the available opportunities provided to you by such wonderful places as “Artek.”
The day’s program concluded with a tour of the key places of the international center. Vladimir Stroyev visited the new camp “Solnechny” and paid attention to the Center for Innovation Technologies. The center has modern multimedia complexes, professional sound and video recording studios, as well as laboratories with machines and stands. The rector noted that such educational spaces play an important role in educating future generations and help integrate modern technologies into the educational process.
Immersion in the world of science
The Vice-Rector of GUE Pavel Pavlovsky held a series of engaging events for the kids at the Innovation Technologies Center. Initially, as part of the “100 Questions to a Scientist” segment, he spoke about the university’s history, student life, and youth policy. The young listeners eagerly asked questions — the conversation turned out to be lively and meaningful.
Then the prorector gave an interactive lecture “Cognitive distortions of consciousness.” The participants actively discussed the content and shared their thoughts.
At the “Expo” GUU presented its booth where children and counselors could receive consultations on a wide range of issues: from preparation for the USE to studying at the GUU Pre-University and admission to the university.
Great interest was aroused by the master classes from representatives of the engineering school of the State University of Management. The kids got acquainted with the basics of artificial intelligence and language models. In practice, Artek campers composed new songs about the camp using AI, asked questions about the university’s scientific activities, and learned about the large-scale research conducted at SUM.
The “Technology Festival” became a vivid example of successful cooperation between the State University of Management and “Artek.” Such events inspire schoolchildren to new discoveries, help them see prospects for professional growth, and believe in their own abilities.
