The results of the IX season of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a Professional” of the Presidential Platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities” have been summed up. Students of St. Petersburg universities successfully passed the multi-stage selection and became diploma holders of the project. St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University of Peter the Great is traditionally the organizer of the Olympiad in the field of “Mechanical Engineering.”
A record number of students registered for participation in the IX season: 215,515 people. The graduates were 3,606 students studying at Russian universities. 548 of them were students from Saint Petersburg.
High activity of participants from Saint Petersburg and confident results in the “I am a professional” Olympiad show that the region’s universities provide quality training. Most of the diploma holders of the IX season were trained at Saint Petersburg State University, the National Research University ITMO, and the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great.This is a personal victory, and a signal to employers: the region has promising personnel capable of developing industry, science, and the social sphere, shared the head of the “I am a Professional” Olympiad, Valeria Kasamara.
This year, four politicians received gold medals, three silver, and eight bronze. In the IX season, the Olympiad covered 70 fields — from “History and Culture of Russia” and “Creative Industries” to “Artificial Intelligence” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Development.”
Participants of the final in the direction “Mechanical Engineering” solved tasks developed by experts of our university together with industrial partners. The final competitions were held at the sites of two leading industrial enterprises: for bachelors at JSC “Power Machines”, for masters and specialists at JSC “Scientific and Production Center “Aquamarine”.Such immersion in the production environment allows students to better learn their future profession, develop business and friendly connections, and also teaches how to quickly achieve goals, noted the advisor at the rectorate of SPbPU and organizer of the olympiad at Politechnika Vitaliy Drobchik.
Diploma holders of the “I am a Professional” Olympiad will be able to undergo internships at the largest companies and take advantage of benefits when entering the next level of education, while medalists will receive cash prizes of up to 300 thousand rubles.
The “I am a Professional” Olympiad is implemented as part of the federal project “Russia — the Land of Opportunities” of the national project “Youth and Children” with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
