Beijing, June 15 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday, a thematic cycling race “The SCO Cup in Cycling: 25 Years Together” was held in Beijing, in which more than 100 people participated, as well as accompanying cultural performances as part of the event.
The event is aimed at developing the “Shanghai Spirit”, deepening sports and humanitarian exchanges, and strengthening the foundations of multifaceted cooperation within the framework of the SCO / Shanghai Cooperation Organization/.
The Secretary General of the organization Nurlan Ermekbaev noted that one of the important components of the “Shanghai Spirit,” which guides the SCO as its main concept and value, is respect for cultural diversity, and sporting events are precisely one of the important means of spreading this spirit.
