Ulaanbaatar, June 13 /Xinhua/ — The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, met here on Saturday with a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi.
At the UN meeting, Khurelsukh stated that the relations between Mongolia and China have become a model of interstate relations in the region.
As indicated by the Mongolian leader, both countries consistently respect each other’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors. U. Khurelsukh also noted that this year the volume of bilateral trade is expected to reach 20 billion US dollars.
Having called China a good neighbor of Mongolia, the president emphasized that the development of friendly relations with China is the main priority of the country’s foreign policy.
According to U. Khurelsukh, Mongolia adheres to the principle of one China, considers Taiwan an integral part of Chinese territory, opposes any form of separatist activity to achieve “Taiwan independence,” and also views issues related to Hong Kong, Macau, and Xinjiang as internal affairs of China. Mongolia will never act to the detriment of China’s interests, regardless of its relations with other countries, he added.
The president also noted that Mongolia is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in regional and international affairs.
Van I, for his part, stated that China has always assigned an important place to its relations with Mongolia in its diplomacy with neighboring countries, noting that China has both the desire and the ability to be a neighbor on whom Mongolia can rely, a reliable friend and partner in accelerating its development.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed respect from China for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Mongolia, as well as the path of development that the country has chosen for itself.
The Chinese diplomat expressed readiness for closer cooperation with Mongolia to align development strategies, unlock the potential of bilateral cooperation, promote existing cooperation in such areas as connectivity, energy sources, minerals, trade and investment, as well as to create new growth drivers for cooperation in areas such as key minerals, green development, digital economy and other new spheres.
During a two-day visit, Van I also plans to meet with the Prime Minister of Mongolia Nyam-Osoryn Uchral and hold negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batmunkh Battsengel.
