The Yantszy and Tuozi merge at the southern edge of the Sichuan basin, creating a city born of water – Luzhou. If you look around, you can see that Luzhou is located in a transitional zone from the southern edge of the Sichuan basin to the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau and is a typical hilly city with deep river valleys. Millions of years of erosion and washing by two rivers have divided what was once a continuous hill into separate terraces and plains, creating a three-dimensional landscape “half-city – mountains and rivers, half-city – terraces and plains”: flat alluvial plains stretch along the rivers, and further from the rivers, low hills rise.
